Color and paint schemes

At Art-W Studio, we love taking on projects that, while small, are just as exciting and challenging. Recently, we completed a Cadia fighting force, this assignment allowed us to explore and apply our skills in painting miniatures in a snowy and militarized environment.
Our client sent us the miniatures already assembled, ready to be transformed. The color scheme for this Winter Astra Militarum that we selected was an elegant dark winter blue. Each miniature was painted to an ornate and game level, ensuring that they looked spectacular both in the display case and on the battlefield.
The bases were also a focal point in this project. We created a dark earth terrain covered in snow, capturing the essence of a winter landscape. We added intertwined wires to simulate concertinas, a detail that not only adds realism but also a tactical dimension to the bases.
The Command Squad banner stands out among the group, painted with care to be the unit’s focal point. Jordi and Paco, our talented painters, used a mix of advanced techniques. They started with airbrushing to apply the base colors and then focused on the details with a brush. Finally, they applied OSL effects in red to give a dramatic and distinctive touch to the miniatures.

A Dark Blue Winter: Painting Cadia Miniatures

Our client came to us after seeing our work on social networks and being impressed with the detail and quality of our painted miniatures. With a clear idea in mind, he got in touch to commission a special project: a Cadian combat force for missions in snowy terrain.
The order consisted of 5 Command Squad and 27 Cadian Shock Troops. The customer wanted a winter color scheme in dark blue, reflecting the harsh combat conditions in a snowy environment. He also had a specific request for the bases: to recreate a dark earth terrain with snow, including intertwined wires to simulate concertinas and add a touch of tactical realism.
He asked that the Winter Astra Militarum miniatures be painted to an ornate and playable standard, ensuring that each would stand out both on the gaming table and at exhibitions. From the first contact, we worked closely with the client to understand their vision and ensure that the end result met their expectations.
This project allowed us to demonstrate once again our passion for detail and quality in miniature painting, adapting to the needs and desires of our clients.

A Shock Force: Cadia Miniatures in Snowy Terrain

The development of this project was an exciting journey. Jordi and Paco, our dedicated painters, started with the preparation of the winter color scheme in dark blue for the Cadia miniatures. With the client’s approval after the first progress, we proceeded to airbrush the overall colors.
Each day, we captured the progress and shared photos with the client, keeping him in the loop and making sure everything aligned with his vision. Once the base colors were complete, we worked on the details with brush, adding fine touches and OSL lighting effects in red, which gave the figures additional dimension.
The bases were another key point. We used dark earth and snow textures and intertwined wires to simulate concertinas, creating a realistic winter battle environment. This detail was essential to achieve the desired effect.
The Command Squad banner stood out for its detailed work, making it the center of attention. The process concluded with the client very satisfied with the final result, and us proud to have met their expectations with precision and dedication.
