Salamanders Strike Force
Color and paint schemes
At Art-W Studio, we recently completed an exciting project that immersed us in the icy universe of the Salamanders. Our client commissioned us to create a complete fighting force, with the goal of capturing the essence of this iconic Warhammer 40K chapter in a snowy setting.
From the very beginning, we focused on every detail to ensure that the miniatures not only met the client’s expectations, but also captured the spirit of the Salamanders. We started with the assembly of the Redemptor Dreadnought, adding magnets to allow for flexibility in their weapon options. Then, we moved on to the painting, adopting the classic Salamander colors, albeit with a less saturated tone. The shoulder pads, at the customer’s request, were also painted green instead of black, creating a visual cohesion that enhances the uniqueness of this army.
The bases were designed to simulate a dark, snowy battlefield, with splashes of blood to add a sense of chaos and brutality. This effect, combined with the snowy setting, provided a dramatic and immersive atmosphere.
Each miniature was painted to an Ornate level, ensuring that every detail, from armor to weapons, stood out. The heroes, the Chaplain and the Judiciary, were painted in black, respecting their specific categories, and were the finishing touches that brought this impressive fighting force to life.
This project not only allowed us to showcase our painting and assembly skills, but also our ability to interpret and realize our clients’ visions with precision and passion.

A Force of Salamanders on Icy Terrain
Our client discovered Art-W Studio through a Warhammer fan forum and was impressed with our previous work. He decided to contact us for a very special project: to paint and assemble a Salamander fighting force, set in a snowy world.
The request was clear and specific. The client asked us to paint a Captain Primaris, a Lieutenant, a Chaplain, among other various minis. In addition, he asked us to mount and magnetize all the weapon options of the Dreadnought.
The color scheme was to follow the classic green tones of the Salamanders, but with a less saturated touch. In addition, the shoulder pads, normally black, would be painted green to maintain the cohesion of the army. The bases were to represent a snowy and dark terrain, with blood splashes to simulate a battlefield full of action and brutality.

Between Heroes and Veterans: The Strength of the Salamanders
The process of painting this force of Salamanders was a rewarding and painstaking experience. We started with the assembly and magnetization of the Redemptor Dreadnought. With all the miniatures ready, we proceeded to create a sample miniature based on the client’s guidelines: desaturated green armor, green shoulder pads and a snowy setting.
After receiving approval, we printed all the miniatures in brown and applied base coats of green with an airbrush. Each day we focused on a specific unit, painting it completely before moving on to the next. The heroes, the Chaplain and the Judiciary, were painted black at the end of the process.
We shared daily progress photos with the client, which allowed for close collaboration and real-time adjustments. The bases were decorated with ground and snow effects, as well as blood splatter to simulate a realistic battle environment.
The result was an impressive fighting force of Salamanders, each miniature with precise details and a setting that closely reflected the client’s specifications. This project stood out not only for the quality of the painting, but also for the dedication and passion we put into each stage.
