Dark Green Necrons
Color and paint schemes
At Art-W Studio we have just finished a project as challenging as rewarding: to give shape and color to a complete Necron army. From assembly to painting, each miniature was treated with the utmost care to capture the essence of a Custom Dynasty, designed by our client. This army, consisting of iconic figures such as the Catacomb Command Barge, Void Dragon and 40 Necron Warriors, was a test of creativity and skill.
The Dark Green Necrons color scheme was one of the most interesting aspects of this assignment. Dark metallic tones served as the base, while the Necron armor was painted in a deep green, which along with the orange and yellow energy effects, created a visually striking ensemble. This work required meticulous planning and precise execution to ensure that each miniature, from the mighty Skorpekh Destroyers to the agile Tomb Blades, maintained an aesthetic coherence within the dynasty.
The bases for miniatures, elaborated at game level, but with Ornate details, evoke the arid Martian plains, using textures and pigments that achieve a realistic and suggestive finish. Even the Void Dragon, painted with a special technique to simulate liquid metal, integrates perfectly into this alien landscape, although with its own style that distinguishes it.
This project stands out for being the most colorful Necron army we have created to date. The result is a set that not only meets Art-W Studio’s quality standards, but also captures the imagination of any fan of the Warhammer universe.

The Awakening of the Necrons: An Army Full of Life and Color
This project, Dark Green Necrons, started when our client, a Warhammer enthusiast, came across our work on Instagram. Impressed by the quality and detail of our creations, he decided to contact us to shape his ambitious Necron army. From the first message, he made it clear to us that he was looking for more than just miniature painting: he wanted a custom army that would stand out on any table.
His vision was very specific: a Custom Dynasty-inspired color scheme that combined dark metallic tones with deep greens, accented by vibrant oranges and yellows for energy effects. In addition, he insisted that the bases had to evoke the Martian desert, with texture and coloring that captured the essence of this extraterrestrial landscape.
He commissioned us not only to paint, but also to assemble all the miniatures, making sure that every detail was aligned with his vision. Thus began our collaboration, in which we undertook to create an army that not only met but exceeded his expectations.

Metal, Light and Mars: The Process of Creating a dark green Necrons
The process of this project was as meticulous as it was exciting, and our client was involved at every stage. From day one, we sent him progress photos, starting with the assembly of the miniatures, which was a challenge in itself due to the quantity and complexity of the figures. However, the team worked in a coordinated manner, advancing quickly without sacrificing quality.
With the sample miniature approved, we proceeded to airbrush the base coats, covering the miniatures with dark metallic tones and deep greens. Each day, the client received images of how the colors came to life on his army. We added orange and yellow lighting effects, which were especially impressive on the weapons and details of the miniatures.
Weathering and OSL effects were the final stages of painting, where the transformation of the army really began to show. Finally, the bases were treated with textures and pigments that replicated the Martian terrain, completing the look. Looking at the daily photos, the client was able to appreciate how his idea became a reality, ending up with an army that is as much a testament to our skill as it is to his vision.

The whole process has been an absolute pleasure. What really stands out to me is the communication with the Art-W team.
