Leviathan Tyranids

    Leviathan Tyranids
    Color and paint schemes

In our latest project we plunged into the dark and fascinating universe of Leviathan, facing the task of painting a complete Tyranid army, composed of 48 miniatures. From the majestic Winged Tyranid Prime to the lethal Termagants and the macabre Ripper Swarms.
The client entrusted us with the mission of replicating his usual scheme, a striking combination of vibrant greens for the skin and intense reds for the chitinous shells. The brain areas glow in electric yellow, while the tongues and gills vibrate in magenta and violet tones, achieving an ornate visual contrast. The bases are not far behind: they recreate dark and muddy terrains with added details such as puddles and blood splashes, simulating the trail left by these voracious creatures.
To achieve these results, we started by checking and adjusting the miniatures, which arrived in a basic state. Many required assembly and reinforcement to ensure their durability during painting. We also 3D printed custom bits to add unique details to the figures and bases.
Painting was done at game , ornate and premium levels, following meticulous processes that included airbrushing for base coats and brush for fine details. We even did freehand work to accentuate specific areas and bring the creatures to life.

Shadows and Blood: The World of Tyranids

This project came to us through a client who was looking to bring his growing tyranid swarm to life. He met us thanks to a recommendation from another fan who had previously worked with us. After seeing our portfolio and discussing his vision, it was clear that he was in the best hands to bring his idea to life.
The mission was clear: paint and set the Tyranid part of the Leviathan box, aligning the color scheme with the rest of his collection. He wanted an army that maintained visual consistency, with vibrant green skins, reddish carapaces and cerebral details illuminated in yellow. In addition, he requested that the tongues and gills stand out in magenta and violet tones, enhancing the organic and sinister character of these creatures.
It wasn’t just a simple paint job. He also commissioned us to customize the bases to recreate a dark and muddy environment, with puddles and splashes that would intensify the army’s narrative. If that wasn’t enough, he requested custom 3D bit prints to add unique details and freehand work on certain figures, looking for a really special finish.

Awakening of the Hive: A Tyranid Army in Action

The process of bringing this tyranid swarm to life was as challenging as it was rewarding. From day one, we made sure that every step was documented to keep the client abreast of progress and ensure that every detail met their expectations.
We started by checking the miniatures, which, although they came assembled, needed adjustments: there were burrs, unglued parts and even matrix residue. Making sure that everything was in perfect condition was essential to avoid mishaps during painting.
The first phase was to make a sample miniature. Once approved, we started the mass work, applying a brown primer that would serve as a base for the vibrant greens of the skin. The carapaces, painted with a brush to maintain accuracy, were given deep red highlights with an airbrush. Then, details such as claws, tongues and teeth were brushed on, taking care that each miniature remained consistent with the rest of the army.
The bases added a special touch to the project. With a muddy finish and puddles of standing water, they perfectly captured the atmosphere the client wanted.
