ASOIAF Karstarks
Color and paint schemes
Here we are again to share another exciting project at Art-W Studio! This time, we have immersed ourselves in the world of the Karstark in CMON’s A Song of Ice and Fire game. This ASOIAF Karstarks project has been an interesting challenge and has allowed us to explore new color schemes and environments.
The commission consists of assembling, painting and decorating the bases of various Karstark units and heroes, including a box of Karstark spearmen, a box of Karstark House Loyalists and a box of Stark III Heroes. We used a color scheme at the customer’s request, with bluish-gray robes contrasting with the brownish fur cloaks and reddish wooden shields.
As for the weathering effects, we have applied severe wear on the clothing, shields and weapons of all units, giving a touch of veteran troops ready for battle. For the bases, we have represented an environment similar to a tundra where the snow has already melted, without much abundant vegetation.
Both the level of painting and decoration of the bases in the ASOIAF Karstarks project is level 2 (Ornate level). This project is an expansion for the same client as the Night’s Watch commission, who was delighted with our work and wanted to expand his collection with Karstark units.
We hope you like this glimpse of our latest Karstark project, and don’t forget to subscribe to the newsletter to keep up to date with our future creations!

Customer briefing
I want some miniatures of the Karstarks.
Our client had previously worked with us on a Song of Ice and Fire project and was so satisfied with the results that he didn’t hesitate to contact us again to expand his collection. This time, he had in mind to incorporate Karstark units to his army.
With great enthusiasm, he shared with us his desire to use a unique color scheme, with bluish-gray robes contrasting with the brownish fur cloaks and reddish wooden shields. He also asked us to have the ASOIAF Karstarks miniatures show severe wear effects on both clothing, shields and weapons, conveying the feeling of veteran, battle-hardened warriors.

The process of this ASOIAF Karstarks project has been really enriching, allowing us to delve even deeper into the world of Song of Ice and Fire. We started by focusing on the assembly of the miniatures, making sure that all the pieces fit perfectly and were ready for painting.
Once assembled, we proceeded to paint them following the unique color scheme that the client had requested, which allowed us to maintain consistency in their collection and give a distinctive look to their Karstark units. As for the ASOIAF Karstarks bases, we chose to represent an environment similar to a tundra with melting snow, without abundant vegetation, to faithfully reflect the characteristic landscape of the Karstark.
