Blood Bowl Dwarf Team
Color and paint schemes
We are pleased to share one of our most recent projects at Art-W Studio, where we had the privilege of working on a team of Dwarves for Blood Bowl, one of the most iconic and exciting games in the Warhammer universe. This commission, done for one of our most veteran clients, allowed us to apply all our knowledge and dedication at every stage of the process.
Each of these miniatures was painted at a premium level, following a color scheme that perfectly reflects the toughness and tenacity of the dwarves: dark green and charcoal gray almost black, with details in burgundy red for the straps and belts, a subtle but powerful nod that reinforces the personality of the team.
The bases of the miniatures, designed to set the team on a snowy soccer field, were carefully crafted. We used electrostatic turf for stunning realism, and added snow to capture the icy atmosphere of a game day in the mountains. This level of detail elevates the presentation of each miniature, ensuring that the team not only looks spectacular on the field, but also tells a visual story in every game.
The assembly of the miniatures included a small conversion to the Ball Dwarf, to which we added a chain for added realism. Everything was done with the precision and care that characterizes our work, ensuring that each piece fits perfectly in this miniature masterpiece.

From the Chain to the Field: The Creation of the Ball Dwarf
Our client is already an old acquaintance at Art-W Studio. Since he discovered us a few years ago, he has become a regular in our workshop, entrusting us with some of his most special projects. On this occasion, he contacted us with a clear idea: he wanted his Blood Bowl Dwarf team to stand out both on the field and in his showcase. He knew exactly what he was looking for, and that precision is what made our work on this project so detailed.
The Blood Bowl Dwarf Team color scheme requested was very specific: a deep charcoal green and a dark gray almost black, with touches of burgundy red for the ribbons and straps. This scheme we had worked on previous projects for him, and it is a hallmark of his armies. In addition, he asked us to give each dwarf his own personality through the colors of his beards, something that added an extra level of complexity to the assignment.
In addition to the premium painting, he asked us to perform a small conversion on the Giant Ball Dwarf, to make him look even more impressive in the field. Every detail was carefully planned and executed, just as our client had imagined.

Designing a Snowy Soccer Field for Dwarfs
The process of this project was a thorough and detailed journey. It all started with the conversion of the Giant Ball Dwarf, where we added a chain that not only improved his aesthetics, but also gave him a dynamic touch. Once that was done, Ruben got down to preparing the miniatures for painting.
As always, we started with a sample miniature. We knew that the colors were crucial, so after receiving the client’s approval, we continued with the rest of the team. We airbrushed each miniature for the bases and brushed on the details, making sure that the dark shades of green and gray blended seamlessly with the touches of burgundy red.
Daily, we sent photos to the client, showing the progress and making sure everything was going according to plan. The beards, the armor, the small details on the straps and metals… everything was worked on with precision.
Finally, the bases were finished with electrostatic grass and snow, creating a perfect environment for the team. Each visual update allowed the client to closely follow the transformation of their miniatures, and see their vision come to life at every stage of the process.
