Death Korps of Krieg’s
Color and paint schemes

At Art-W Studio, we have just completed an exciting and challenging project: the creation of a mechanized vehicle detachment for the Krieg Death Korps. This set includes a Banesword, two Leman Russ Demolisher and two Scout Sentinels, all assembled and customized with 3D resin bits for an authentic and unique look.
The color scheme chosen features very dark blue tones, complemented with dirt and rust effects to reflect the wear and tear of decades of combat. The bases were set to simulate a war-torn environment, full of details that evoke the rawness and brutality of the battlefield.
The painting process has been particularly detailed. We started with airbrushed base coats, followed by illuminations and hand-painted metallic details. The weathering effects were done using advanced weathering techniques, including the use of Striking Grime, powder pigments and mud splatter, to capture the feel of vehicles that have been in continuous service for years.
In addition to the premium, ornate, game-level painting, we performed freehand work to add numbering and other custom details, such as the “In Death Atonement” lettering on the Banesword. This project not only shows our technical and artistic skills, but also our ability to adapt to the specific needs and wishes of our clients.
We are proud of the final result, which captures the essence of Krieg’s Death Korps and provides a set of miniatures that are both visually stunning and true to the lore of the Warhammer universe.

A Journey to the Hell of the Empire: Krieg’s Death Korps

Our client discovered Art-W Studio while browsing Warhammer forums, where several users recommended our miniature painting services. Intrigued by the positive comments, he decided to visit us and explore our galleries of previous works, being impressed with the level of detail and realism we achieved.
The brief was clear and challenging: to assemble and paint several units of the Krieg Death Korps, specifically a Banesword, two Leman Russ Demolisher and two Scout Sentinels. The client wanted a very dark bluish color scheme, accompanied by intensive dirt and rust effects. In addition, he requested 3D resin bit printing to do custom conversions on the miniatures.
One outstanding request was freehand work for numberings and a special quote in the Banesword: “In Death Atonement”. This project was to convey the feeling of vehicles that have been in constant combat, reflecting the unforgiving and grim environment of the trenches. Attention to detail and authenticity were key to meeting the client’s expectations.

Banesword, Leman Russ and Sentinels Scouts: The Krieg Units

Our approach to this project began with careful assembly of the miniatures, integrating 3D resin printed bits for specific customizations. Midway through, we received a modification request for the Banesword, which involved detailed adjustments to the chassis. This challenge was tackled with the skill and patience that our team is known for.
Once the assembly was complete, we moved on to painting. The base coats were airbrushed, starting with black and adding bluish highlights. The metallic details and other small components were painted by hand with great precision.
For dirt and rust effects, we used advanced weathering techniques, such as Striking Grime, powder pigments and mud splatter. These elements were essential to capture the essence of the decades of battle. Throughout the process, we sent daily progress photos to the client, making sure he was aware of every stage.
Finally, we applied freehand work, including numbering and the quote “In Death Atonement” in the Banesword. The end result was a set of miniatures that not only met the client’s expectations, but also faithfully reflected the toughness and grim character of Krieg’s Death Korps.
