Grey Knights Patrol
Color and paint schemes
When we received the assignment to paint and assemble a Grey Knights Combat Patrol, we knew we had a unique project on our hands. The Grey Knights are one of the most iconic factions of the Warhammer 40k universe, and this army is composed of some of the most representative miniatures. The idea was to recreate the classic shiny silver armor that characterizes this order, but with a modern touch that would really stand out on any gaming table.
The client gave us the freedom to work with the traditional colors of the Grey Knights, such as metallic silver and wine red, but he also wanted us to give it a unique touch that would reflect the power of these warriors. We used very shiny silver tones to give them that shimmering look, while the red and gold accents added a touch of luxury and distinction. For the energy effects on the swords, we used a bright blue tone, which brings dynamism and movement to the miniatures.
The design of the bases was another key aspect. We chose a rocky and sandy texture, inspired by the landscapes of Mars, which contrasts perfectly with the miniatures in metallic tones. The bases were carefully detailed with cork and powdered pigments to achieve a realistic finish that perfectly complemented the style of the miniatures.
This project, although of medium size, was carried out by two of our painters, who were in charge of both the assembly and the colorful painting. Each miniature was treated with the care and detail that Grey Knights deserve, and we are delighted with the final result, which is a clear reflection of the level of excellence that we seek in each project.

The Flame of the Inquisition: Creating a Gray Knight Patrol
This project started when a Grey Knights enthusiast client contacted us after seeing some of our work on social networks. He had been impressed by the quality of our work and, knowing that in Art-W Studio we have a great experience working with Warhammer 40k miniatures, he decided to trust us to give life to his own Grey Knights patrol.
He asked us for an army that included the most representative figures of the Grey Knights. The idea was to follow the traditional color scheme of the Grey Knights, with their shiny silver armor, but with the addition of violet shades and bluish energy details on the swords, to give life and dynamism to each miniature. In addition, we were asked for the bases to have a desert, rocky setting, similar to the landscape of Mars, to contrast with the metallic figures.
What really stood out in this request was the attention to detail and the request for an ornate level finish. They wanted the army to stand out both on the gaming tables and in any display case. We made sure that every step of the assembly and painting process was aligned with those expectations, working to achieve a spectacular result.

Knights of Steel: The Creation of an Epic Army
The process of this project has been a real adventure, and we have been fortunate to have a client who has closely followed our every move. From day one, we made sure to send him daily photos so he could see how the miniatures were taking shape and how the details were starting to shine.
We started with the assembly of the miniatures, where we made sure that each piece fit perfectly so we could work with precision. Once assembled, we proceeded to the priming phase, where we used black spray as a base, which allowed us to create the necessary contrast to make the silvers shine even more. The first painting phase consisted of applying the metallic layers using the airbrush, followed by brush details on the red tabards, gold trim and other elements.
Next, we applied a wash with black enamel to define shadows and details, which gave depth to each figure. Next, we used Gloomy Violet to give that special touch to the shadows, before brightening everything up with the shimmery tones. The energy swords were one of the most exciting parts, creating that signature glowing effect. Finally, the bases were meticulously worked with textures and pigments to give them a worn and realistic look.

The whole process has been an absolute pleasure. What really stands out to me is the communication with the Art-W team.
