Hive Fleet Lagiacrus
Color and paint schemes
Recently, in Art-W Studio, we have completed a project with a tyranid swarm fleet that has left us very satisfied. This assignment had a very particular inspiration: the imposing Lagiacrus from Monster Hunter. The challenge was to capture the essence of this beast in an alien army, and we believe we have achieved a spectacular result.
We took care of all the figure assembly, with a special conversion for the Screamer Killer, whose head we redesigned to give it an even more intimidating touch. The miniature painting was game level and ornate, perfect for standing out on the boards.
The color scheme closely follows the Lagiacrus aesthetic, with pale lilac skins, dark blue chitin plates and fluorescent orange accents that contrast dramatically. The black claws add an extra touch of ferocity, and we can’t forget the OSL on the psychic units, adding an intense glow that simulates the power they emanate.
As for the bases for miniatures, we didn’t want to be left behind. We created a marine environment with beach sand, sparkling water and rocky cliffs. We used realistic textures and painting techniques that perfectly mimic the movement of the sea, giving the feeling that these creatures are emerging from a raging ocean.
The result of this Hive Fleet Lagiacrus is a combination of assembly, conversion and painting techniques that has brought to life a unique tyranid force that is sure to impress anyone who sees it in action.

Tyranid Hive Fleet with Lagiacrus Touches
Our client found us through his search for a studio specialized in miniature painting that could transform his idea into reality. He wanted to create a Tyranid fleet inspired by the Lagiacrus, a creature from the Monster Hunter video game, and saw in our previous work the quality and attention to detail he needed for his army.
The brief was clear from the start: he wanted a color scheme that included pale lilac skin, dark blue chitin plates and splashes of fluorescent orange to stand out. In addition, he had a special request for the Screamer Killer, asking us to perform a conversion on his head to give him a fiercer and more unique look.
The client also asked us to pay special attention to the bases, looking for a maritime setting that included beach sand, rocky cliffs and rough seas. He wanted his army to appear to come straight out of the ocean depths to invade the battlefield. We loved his idea, and undertook to bring it to life in great detail.

Colors, Conversion and Bases: The Art of Creating a Tyranid Army
From day one, we maintained a constant flow of communication with the client, sending daily progress photos to make sure everything was going as expected. We started with the assembly of all the miniatures, with special attention to the conversion of the Screamer Killer. Once that change was approved, we moved on to creating the sample miniature.
The first step was to work on the bases. The client wanted to reflect a maritime environment with cliffs, sea foam and beach sand. After several tests, we were able to capture the sense of movement of the water and the texture of the cliffs, and the images we shared with the client were a success.
Upon receiving his approval, we moved forward with painting the miniatures. We used a pale lilac scheme for the skin, with dark blue chitin plates and fluorescent orange accents. We also applied an oil wash to give them an alien, deathly look. Each day, we sent him updates so he could see the progress, and in the end, the client was thrilled with the result.
Thanks to this close collaboration and daily progress, we were able to deliver an army completely to his liking, capturing the essence of the Lagiacrus in each miniature.

The whole process has been an absolute pleasure. What really stands out to me is the communication with the Art-W team.
