Metallic Red Sororitas
Color and paint schemes
Today we present you a very special project we just finished at Art-W Studio: an Adeptus Sororitas army with an aesthetic that will leave you speechless. This set of 46 miniatures ranges from troops like Battle Sisters and Seraphims, to tanks like the Castigator, and legendary characters like Morvenn Vahl and Santa Celestine. Everything has been meticulously assembled, painted and set, using premium and ornate painting techniques, as is customary in our more detailed commissions.
The client had a very clear idea for the armor: a dull metallic red, conveying the wear and tear of decades of battles in winter weather. To achieve that effect, we used airbrushes and fine brushes to detail every little crack and shadow. The tabards, painted in an off-white, add a touch of purity, while the orange light effects and green energy on the weapons reinforce the visual impact. All of this was inspired by the Order of the Bloody Rose but taken to a more somber and realistic level.
The bases for miniatures also play a key role in this project, as they represent black marble floors, decorated with wet mud, snow and blood, creating a cold and brutal atmosphere. In iconic figures such as the Triumph of Saint Katherine, we imitated the shine of the marble, giving it a finish that really stands out in any display case.
We cannot fail to mention heroines such as Celestine and Morvenn Vahl, whose inverted golden armor contrasts majestically with the army. This Metallic Red Sororitas project is a clear example of how at our warhammers painting studio we turn an original idea into a masterpiece that captures both the essence of the Warhammer universe and the client’s vision.

Saint Celestine and Morvenn Vahl: golden heroines in a red army
This Metallic Red Sororitas project began when the client contacted us after seeing our work at an exhibition of professionally painted miniatures. He was fascinated by the level of detail and the unique color schemes we had applied in other assignments. When he approached us, he had a very specific idea in mind for his Adeptus Sororitas army. He wanted something special: a desaturated metallic red color scheme, with a somber, weathered feel, conveying the rawness of having survived countless battles in extreme weather conditions.
In addition, the client asked us to incorporate details inspired by church-stained glass windows and black marble floors, which gave an artistic and unique touch to the army’s aesthetic. He had a particular preference for powerful lighting effects on weapons and torches, looking for that realism that makes the miniatures come to life.
He asked us to make the painting and bases premium level, and to mount and magnetize all the units. From the beginning, we understood that his vision went beyond the usual, and we were committed to deliver a project that exceeded his expectations.

From Gothic inspiration to the battlefield: our army of Sororitas
From day one, we maintained constant communication with the client to make sure everything was going as expected. Once we received their approval for the sample miniature, we began the process of assembling the others. We organized the work in phases, starting by magnetizing all the equipment options and preparing the bases. Then, we airbrushed the base coats, making sure that the desaturated metallic red tone captured the aged and somber look the client was looking for.
Each day we would send progress photos, from the placement of the first coats of color to the final details. It was a painstaking but rewarding process. We worked painstakingly on the lighting effects of the weapons and torches, as requested, using fluorescent pigments to achieve a vibrant glow. In addition, the bases took shape with mud, snow and black marble textures, capturing that icy and decadent atmosphere.
When it came to the key miniatures, such as Saint Celestine and Morvenn Vahl, we focused on the golden details of their armor to make them stand out from the army. Every detail was tweaked according to the client’s requests, and with each advancement, it came closer to the vision he had envisioned.
