Slaves to Darkness II Band
Color and paint schemes
At Art-W Studio, we had the pleasure of working on an exciting expansion project of Slaves to Darkness ll Band for an Age of Sigmar Slaves to Darkness army. This assignment led us to assemble, paint and create bases for an impressive variety of miniatures. Among them, the formidable Archaon in its classic Warhammer Fantasy version and the very rare Holga Clovenhorn stand out, pieces that bring a special uniqueness to this army.
Each of these Slaves to Darkness ll Band miniatures has been meticulously assembled and painted following the characteristic color scheme of classic chaos followers: worn black armor, gold and copper trim, dark leathers and reddish manes. This vibrant, dark scheme has been carried out at an Ornate level, ensuring a finish that stands out on any gaming table.
The bases, meanwhile, were designed to represent a volcanic landscape with black ash, breccias and reflections of incandescent magma. We used cork and thick textures to simulate volcanic rocks, perfectly complementing the hellish environment of these figures. This detailed work on the bases was also done at an Ornate level, which guarantees an impressive presentation from any angle.
A detail to highlight is the importance of maintaining consistency with the client’s previous project. Therefore, we followed a specific painting recipe that ensures that all miniatures, new and old, maintain a unified aesthetic. Undoubtedly, the assembly and painting of Archaon has been one of the highlights of this project, given the rarity and prestige of this miniature.

Archaon and Holga Clovenhorn: War Stories
Our client met us through social networks, where he was impressed with our previous work. He contacted us with an exciting project: the expansion of his Slaves to Darkness army from Age of Sigmar. We had worked together before, and this time he wanted to maintain aesthetic consistency with the previous project.
The client requested a classic Chaos follower color scheme, with worn black armor, gold and copper trim, dark leathers and reddish manes. In addition, the bases were to depict a volcanic environment with black ash and glowing magma.
Also emphasized the importance of the new miniatures integrating seamlessly with the old ones, with no visible differences. His special request included the assembly and painting of Archaon and Holga Clovenhorn, iconic and hard to find figures. We accepted the challenge with enthusiasm, ready to create an army that would not only meet, but exceed their expectations…

Painting with Fire: Age of Sigmar Volcanic Project
The process of this Slaves to Darkness II Band expansion project has been a rewarding and detailed experience. We started with the assembly of all the miniatures, paying special attention to Archaon, whose lead figure required caulking to ensure a perfect fit. As we progressed, we kept the customer informed with daily photos, showing each stage of the work.
After assembly, we built the volcanic bases, using thick cork and earth textures to simulate volcanic rocks. We then printed all the miniatures in black. Our team of painters divided into groups, taking care of the infantry, cavalry, heroes and minotaurs. We started with airbrushed black bases, followed by brush details.
Each day we sent the client visual updates, highlighting progress on armor, trim, leather and other details. Lighting effects and final details with oil products brought the miniatures to life. Finally, we painted the bases with warm colors and light effects, completing the volcanic environment.
The client was delighted with the constant updates and visible progress. This project has been a success, combining our passion for detail with customer satisfaction.
