Space Wolves Army II
Color and paint schemes
Recently, at Art-W Studio we have completed an exciting project of customization and painting of a Space Wolves army. This army allowed us to deploy all our talent and creativity.
The client asked us for a dark and aggressive color scheme: very dark gray armor, almost black, with golden details and tribal markings in red. In addition, all the miniatures have been enriched with 3D printed bits from GreyTide, which gives them Fenris wolf capes and skins, giving them a fierce and distinctive look.
The bases have also been meticulously designed to represent a wintry terrain. We have used a mixture of yellowish bushes and dense snow to recreate a snowy landscape, maintaining visual coherence in all the miniatures.
One of the standout pieces is the Imperial Knight, which features a unique scheme. This colossus is repaired with scrap and scraps collected from the battlefield, displaying an amalgam of colors that reflects the history of its multiple repairs and the lore behind this war machine.
Each miniature has been painted to an ornate and premium level, ensuring that every detail stands out and tells a story. The armor bases were airbrushed to ensure uniformity, and then each unit was individually worked on by our expert painters. Attention to detail on the bases, the use of greenstuff for repairs and 3D bit conversions have been essential to achieve the result.

Customer briefing
From Scrap to Splendor: The Story of a Unique Imperial Knight
Our client came to Art-W Studio through a recommendation in the Warhammer community. Fascinated by our previous work, he contacted us for a very special project: customize and paint an army of Space Wolves.
The brief was clear and detailed. He wanted the armor on his miniatures to be a dark gray almost black, with gold accents and red tribal markings. In addition, he wanted all the figures to be adorned with wolf pelts and capes, using GreyTide branded 3D bits for an authentic and aggressive look.
The client also had a very specific request: the Imperial Knight was to reflect a story of repairs with scrap metal and battle debris, with an amalgamation of colors that told the story of his journey across the battlefield. He asked us to create bases that would evoke a wintry terrain, with snow and yellowish underbrush.
From the outset, we understood the client’s passion for his army and were committed to bringing his vision to life. This project allowed us to merge our painting and modeling skills to create a unique and detailed army that exceeds initial expectations.

Cloaks, Skins and Coats: Creating a Space Wolf Army
The process of this Space Wolves Army II project was meticulous and exciting. From the very beginning, we made sure to keep the client informed with daily progress photos. We started with the 3D printing of the GreyTide bits needed for the conversions and the aggressive look of the Space Wolves.
Once the bits were printed, we prepared the miniatures, which arrived assembled, and some half painted. We stripped and cleaned each figure, removing burrs and repairing parts with greenstuff. Then, we made the conversions with the 3D bits, adding the skins and layers of wolves.
The painting started with a sample miniature. After receiving the customer’s approval, we applied the dark gray almost black color scheme, with gold details and red tribal markings. We used airbrush for the armor bases, ensuring uniformity. Then, each painter oversaw different units to optimize the process.
While working on the miniatures, we also prepared the bases with a winter terrain, using bushes and snow for a snowy landscape. The Imperial Knight was treated separately, highlighting its repair with scrap metal and a variety of colors.
Each day we sent photos to the customer, who was delighted with the progress. This detailed follow-up allowed us to adjust details according to his comments and ensure a final result that exceeded his expectations.
