White Scars Leviathan
Color and paint schemes
Welcome to the vibrant and chaotic universe of the last project we have carried out in Art-W Studio, White Scars Leviathan. We dove right into the new tenth edition Warhammer 40.000 box set, “Leviathan”. An epic challenge that led us to paint and bring to life the most iconic miniatures of this release.
On the battlefront, we deployed an imposing army of space marines from the White Scars chapter. From the imposing Captain Exterminator to the fearless Veterans and the formidable Dreadnought Ballistus, each miniature has been meticulously assembled and painted to capture the essence of fighting on the vast prairies of Chogoris. The color scheme chosen, with white as protagonist, enriched with touches of red and golden details, creates a grimdark aura without losing the majesty of the space warriors.
But we do not only stay in the painting. The bases, set in a blighted urban industrial area, have been carefully decorated with 3D printed elements, such as metallic ruins, which immerse the miniatures in a realistic and challenging landscape.
The meticulous process involved the approval of a sample miniature, where we applied weathering techniques to the armor, using the chipping method. Two painters worked as a team, one giving general underpainting with airbrushing, while the other focused on the Librarian with a different scheme.

Customer briefing
Colors of War: White Scars
In the fascinating journey that is Art-W Studio, every project starts with a unique connection with our clients. On this occasion, we received a call from a passionate strategist following the release of the new Warhammer 40,000 “Leviathan” box set. Fascinated by the artistic potential of his army, he entrusted us with the task of bringing to life the space marines of the White Scars chapter and the fearsome Tyranid Swarm Fleet.
The client, with clear vision, requested a color scheme that would highlight the ferocity of the conflict, opting for white as the main tone, enriched with touches of red and golden details. In addition, he challenged us to create a grimdark aura without losing the majesty of the space warriors. Attention to detail was key, especially in the Librarian, who wore the distinctive blue colors of his position.

Transformation of Leviathan
Immerse yourself in the fascinating journey of the “Leviathan” project at Art-W Studio. Our client not only witnessed the final result, but we shared with him the day-to-day gestation of his Warhammer 40,000 army.
From the initial assembly to the last brushstroke, each phase was documented with meticulous attention. The sample miniature, with its off-white and weathering effects, served as a starting point for the grimdark aura we were looking for. Coordination between our painters was key; while one team brought the overall bases to life with airbrushing, another refined the unique pieces of the Librarian.
The daily photos were not only a means of updating, but an invitation to our client to immerse themselves in the creative process. Each image was a window into the evolution of his army, visual proof of Art-W Studio’s commitment to excellence and visual storytelling.
